So you’re at a networking event or a cocktail party, and inevitably you’re forced to answer this question approximately 461, 308 times:
“So, what do you do?”
I cringe.
Who. the. hell. cares?
Seems to me this question needs a reboot. We’re in an age where we are redefining our happiness, satisfaction quotient, and our work on a whole new set of terms–our own. The businesses we build are an extension of ourselves and our missions. More and more, we’re all crafting our lives to fit our individual definition of bliss. So why hasn’t the chatter changed?
Because the 2.0 version of the most annoying question ever is now the scariest question ever…
Why do you do what you do?
*Wait, let me grab my mojito. Then, I want to hear your answer…

I always hate this question!! But after a lot of blank faces and even some pity stares, I now announce with pride and confidence that I am a artist and have my own business. I love my job and not a lot of people can say that.
That’s awesome, Jenny! It’s such a good feeling to really love what you do, right? Thanks for your comment!
I’m so with you on this one! C-R-I-N-G-E! I have so many thoughts on this topic, so I don’t want to go off on a tangent, but I’d so much rather know, “Are you passionate about what you do?”
